Food Bank for the Heartland's BackPack Program is designed to provide weekend meals for children whose families have limited resources. Childhood hunger has risen across the Heartland with 1 in 5 children experiencing food insecurity.

Each week during the school year, easy-to-prepare or ready-to-eat nutritious food is distributed to 8,002 children in 244 schools across Nebraska and western Iowa.
